While best known for his work in the R/C industry Jim is no stranger to General Aviation. The son of an aircraft broker, Jim earned his pilot's license as a teenager, and has enjoyed a lifelong fascination with aircraft of all types.
Jim lives in Corvallis, Oregon, where he runs RCGroups.com and Knife Edge Software. RCGroups.com is the world's largest R/C website, and also the daddy site of many other successful R/C-themed sites including FlyingGiants.com, Crackroll.com, and RCCars.com. Knife Edge Software produces the RealFlight and RealRace simulators. Jim's travels to R/C events around the country have helped him log visits to 48 of the 50 states.
Jim's training regimen involves regular practice sessions, participation in IAC competition, and workouts from top aerobatic coaches. Jim's approach to flying is disciplined with an emphasis on personal safety and precision.
When not flying Russian Thunder, Jim enjoys R/C airplanes and cars, and spending time with his children: Haley, Camma, and Raymond.
